A Celebration of Joe's Life

There will be a celebration of Joe's life on Saturday, September 19th, from 1 to 5 in the afternoon, at The Vue in Corvallis, Oregon.

The afternoon primarily runs from 1 to 5, and the service itself begins at 2:00. The service will be followed by a reception. If you want to be there for the service, please arrive before 2. There will also be additional time to gather afterwards, from 5-7.

Dress code: Casual dress, provocative or humorous T-shirts a plus.

Please let us know if you are coming

Tell us you're coming — it will help us plan appropriate levels of food and chairs. But telling us is not a ticket and nobody will be turned away, so if you decide at the last minute, come anyway.

If you would rather just hear news about the memorial, you can leave your email address instead. Either way it is only used for news about the memorial — a handful of messages, and nothing after that.

If you are coming from out of town

Corvallis is about an hour and a half south of Portland by car.

If you need a room, book it soon. There is a football game that weekend, and hotels in Corvallis fill up early and get expensive when there is a game on. If nothing is left in town, Albany is a short drive east and usually has rooms.

Photographs

If you have photographs of Joe, you can send them here. Anything at all — the boat, the commune, a sauna he built, a kitchen he improved, a project he talked you into. Pictures sent in before the 19th can be part of the day itself.

Photos straight off a phone are fine, and you can add a note to each one saying who is in it or where it was. You are encouraged to bring prints to the service as well.

Collecting Memories

The guestbook is open. If you knew Joe and want to write something now, his friends and family would be glad to read it.
