Butter
from: butter
10 August 2001 I used 20 grams of dried buds, 1 lb of sweet butter, and 1 gallon of water. I put the buds in a food processor and pulsed them a few times for maybe 20 seconds total, to divide the stuff up without making into dust or puree. I boiled the water, butter, and buds together for three hours, active boiling not just simmering. I wanted plenty of agitation and mixing to get extraction at the interface between oil droplets and water. I then strained everything through a regular strainer, and I pressed the green stuff hard to get out all the trapped butter I could. To check on the completeness of that operation, I cooked up the pressed buds with another gallon of water, strained it again, and let the water settle to see how much butter I could get off the surface. Total residue was less than one tablespoon of butter, which I added to the first strained liquid. I put that all into the fridge and when the butter layer on top was hard, I removed it and heated it gently to melt it. Then I poured the melted butter (which still had lot of mushy stuff that seemed to be butter plus vegetable matter plus incorporated water) into a milk carton and chilled it again. After the butter was hard, I tore off the carton and discarded the water and the mushy looking junk, and was left with 8 Oz of very nice looking bright green clarified butter. The notion is, the original 20 grams of buds would be 100 fairly satisfactory doses so if I divide the butter into 100 equal parts I can see how much of a dose one of those parts might be. Watch this space. 18 February 2002 I took the butter from step (1) above and divided it in half. With that half made a batch of ginger snaps (recipe follows) which make, I forget exactly how many but it was about 100 cookies. I aimed for cookies about the size of commercial ginger snaps. The cookies came out just fine; much better than commercial ginger snaps with just a hint of flavor from the additives in the butter. I ate two of the cookies at about 2100 one evening (as did my lab partner) and at around midnight I thought that I was a happily stoned but nothing spectacular. Then at 0100 my lab partner came to bed and woke me up, and we had ecstatic happiness together for a couple hours. More experimentation is planned. 27 April 2002 Additional experimental sessions conducted by various people seem to indicate that two cookies for a 70 - 80 kg male are about right. It might be interesting to try four or five cookies.... Here is the recipe I used: 6 oz butter (4 oz per above, 2 oz plain) Sift all dry ingredients 2 c sugar together. Cream butter; 2 eggs add sugar & whip. Beat in 0.5 c molasses eggs, molasses, vineger. Add 2 t clear vinegar dry ingredients & mix. Make 3.75 c all purpose flour 3/4 inch balls and bake 1.5 t baking soda 12 minutes @ 325 degrees. 3-6 t ginger 0.5 t cinnamon 0.25 t cloves 0.25 t cayenne pepper
